Making History Transparent
Over the course of thousands of years, new patterns and ornaments were constantly being created. They embodied respective cultural ideas and values and at the same time represented wealth, power and status. These ornaments rarely developed from scratch, but were continued, reinterpreted, taken up again and adapted to the spirit of the times. In retrospect, they can also be read as representatives of epochs and located in the history of style.
In Making History Transparent various historical patterns are superimposed in layers. Through the transparency of the material glass, different times appear in view simultaneously. The superimposition of heterogeneous motifs and styles allows new ornaments to emerge – patterns which, through their blending, ultimately correspond more to the here and now and a lived, eclectic multiculturalism.
